Supermade Equip’d S13

In a field of race cars that are built up from bare shells there was one very eye catching S13.  Takanori Yoshida is creating a name for himself in the series by doing things a little differently. Most setups are based around 500+ HP, 17 and 18in wheels and semi slick tyres in the 275/35 range. It makes sense from a competitive point of view. Wheels and tyres at this size combined with ridiculous power is a sure fire way to get big speed.

Even though some setups are proven and commonly used there are a few exceptions to the rules. Some work and others are just for a short lived life in the spot light, rarely one ticks all the boxes outside of the norm.

Supermade exterior and custom  made underneath. SR engines leave huge amounts of space for intercoolers and radiators behind the radiator support! There’s a standard fan in there too.

It’s not some crazy bare shell build, alot of factory items are still hanging around. But what has been done adds up to make it something very special. Equip 03’s in 15×8 -22 probably isnt a size work keep in stock.

The interior is budget, importantly it has plenty of small touches to continue the whole theme of the car.

To enter AND qualify for D1 must be an intimidating experience. To be paired up against a car that has had more then its share of podiums  wouldnt help. I dont think Takanori was too worried judging by the battle introduction.

Unfortunantly most cars had at least one experience in the sand trap. High speed and a David and Goliath pairings resulted in this beast leaving without a front bar, side skirts or rear bar after a detour mid battle.

I won’t post after pics, its now repaired to its former glory and now participating in more D1 events.

Thanks for reading, D1 battles up next.
